Biographical Information: Jason Lopez is a third generation native of the Lower East Side of Manhattan in New York City. The Lower East Side's diverse community provided Mr. Lopez with a unique opportunity to gain great insight into a broad spectrum of socioeconomic issues that face many members of today's society.
In addition, Mr. Lopez's Jewish and Puerto Rican heritage has nurtured Mr. Lopez's ability to effectively relate to and understand many different philosophies and approaches to resolving conflicts and overcoming obstacles. Based on his upbringing and life experiences, Mr. Lopez decided that pursuing a career as an attorney would best suit his desire to assist people with facilitating their goals and ambitions while assisting others in resolving conflicts and issues that interfere with their ability to succeed.
Educational Background: Mr. Lopez received his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, cum laude, from the State University of New York College at Brockport. Mr. Lopez went on to obtain his Juris Doctorate from Brooklyn Law School. While in law school, Mr. Lopez interned for New York Eastern District Court Judge Fredric Block and successfully drafted and argued an appeal on behalf of the New York County District Attorney's Office. In addition, Mr. Lopez served as president of the student government at Brooklyn Law School.
Professional Experience: Since graduation, Mr. Lopez worked as an Assistant Corporation Counsel with the New York City Law Department where he successfully defended the City of New York and its respective agencies in a wide array of civil actions. In addition, Mr. Lopez successfully tried matters to verdict on behalf of the City of New York. Thereafter, Mr. Lopez worked with several private law firms including London Fischer and Cozen O'connor where he handled all aspects of litigation including trials and appeals.
In private practice, Mr. Lopez successfully litigated matters stemming from civil right violations, construction defects, construction site accidents, contract disputes, insurance defense, lead paint poisoning, matrimonial disputes, motor vehicle accidents, municipal liability, personal injury, products liability, property damage and toxic torts.
Since establishing his firm in 2005, Mr. Lopez expanded his practice beyond civil litigation. Over the past years, Mr. Lopez has also represented clients in regards to entertainment matters, recording contracts, intellectual property rights, family court custody and support matters, criminal defense and landlord and tenant matters.
